You may remember a while ago I had a rant on here about Matty Collector and how they were always shortchanging the real fans (here and here and here), well it’s happened again.

When Matty released the Club Ecto 1 subscriptions we Ghostbusters fans were delighted, basically it meant we would all get our Ghostbusters figures sent to us without the whole ‘going online in the hope we’ll get one’ fiasco every couple of months. And we got exclusive figures as subscribers.

However, when the subscription ended and it was announced that the GB line was probably going to end, it was a dark time for us collectors.

At SDCC this year it was hinted – yes, hinted – that the line would continue (yay!) although very little details were/are known – will it just be props like the Ecto Goggles? Will is be more 6inch figures? Will we someday see a movie-accurate Ecto-1? We could hope.

Until, that is, this new announcement (pic below). It seems that people who subscribe to OTHER lines – Watchmen, He-Man, DC etc – will get access to ALL upcoming toys before everyone else. So basically, if there is continued GB toys, the subscribers will get to pick them off before we fans (who are nolonger able to subscribe) can. And to add insult to injury, they are saying that they will be making less of some toys, the implication being that if you don’t subscribe you won’t get access and some of these toys may never even get as far as the website marketplace.

Surely if you subscribe to, let’s say Watchmen, you should ONLY have access to first refusal of Watchmen toys – for those of you who simply must have 2x Silk Spectres.

This implies that Matty simply want subscribers for their figures, and the collectors of lines that no-longer have available subscriptions can be damned. The fans are getting upset and kicking off on the forums and I have to say, I don’t really blame them.
