AMC to release balck and white versions of The Walking dead in February?

December 14th, 2012 by Marc Comments

One of the charms of The Walking Dead comic series is the black and white art. It’s fantastic and really lends itself to the story.

It goes nicely with the idea that the story isn’t about the blood and gore, but rather the human drama. And the TV series so far has reflected that pretty well.

However, like Frank Darabont’s superb movie The Mist, there’s a black and white version of Seasons 1 & 2 coming from AMC. And we think it’s a fantastic idea.

Back in July AMC aired a black and white version of the pilot episode and clearly it worked because, kicking off in February, AMC are releasing the first 18 episodes.

Showrunner Glen Mazzara tweeted the article below from The Walking Dead Magazine, so we’re taking this as his way of confirming the news…

I’ve been wanting to go back and watch the whole series from the start again, now I think there’s a good reason. No word if FX in the UK plan on airing these, but given as it’s a massive hit here too, we’d imagine we’ll see it over here shortly after the US airings.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
