Our toy reviewer Votesaxon07 brings us a 22 minute insight into one of the BBC’s most innovative shows, and asks that all important question – will Robot Wars ever return to the small screen?
With TV schedules these days becoming over-populated with mindless reality shows, isn’t it time a show which teaches the viewer about mechanics and electronics while entertaining them with metal-mashing mayhem was re-introduced? Recently, FTN learned that Terminator director James Cameron was interested in creating a robotic combat based television show, and that got us all nostalgic for the original BBC 2 series.
Robot Wars ran from 1997 to 2004, and in that time it gained a large cult following, encouraging teenagers and adults to lock themselves in their toolsheds, not emerging until they had built the ultimate killing machine. It was a game show known for its destruction and mayhem, but also for inspiring creativity and ingenuity in the world of civilian robotics. But whatever became of this classic cult show? Does the sport of robotic combat still continue today? All of these questions and more will be answered in the video below, as Votesaxon07 asks, will anyone ever bring back Robot Wars?
