Davison confirms involvement with Doctor Who 50th… but in what capacity?

September 17th, 2013 by Marc 1 Comment

With everyone currently talking about the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary there’s still much specualtion about what previous Doctors will be involved.

Yes, we know from the poster (above) that David Tennant and Matt Smith will be joined by John Hurt as an inbetween/time war Doctor, but the fans are all holding out that we may still see others too.

And so, enter Peter Davison.

The actor who is 62 and was the fifth Doctor, has told BANG Showbiz: “I’m making an appearance somewhere over that period of time but I can’t reveal in what. I can’t reveal anything specific about it. I’m not allowed to. It is a big year for the show and we’re all doing our bit for it. Trust me.”

He also said he believes Doctor Who will eventually come to an end: “There will get to a point where people get a bit tired of Doctor Who. I don’t know, maybe it will need a little rest. I’d love to see it carry on but you can never tell.”

Also, for the record, he thinks Peter Capaldi is a good choice for the role: “He’s a fantastic actor and he has that sort of sense of humour. He has an edge to him as well and I think it’s nice to have a maturer Doctor.

So, what does this all mean? Well, we know there are going to be interviews and documentaries over the 50th weekend in November and the safe money would be that he’ll appear in one of these, that said, with Doctor Who you can never really tell as we all found out in the Children In Need Special, Time Crash:

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
