If the first two episodes of Season 4 were about saying goodbye to old characters and saying hello to new ones, then The Graveyard Shift was all about getting into the swing of things.
And how. The third episode is easily the best in this series to date. The emphasis is placed firmly on the budding friendship between Tom and Hal and the results are nothing short of outstanding.
Being Human, at heart, has always placed greater emphasis on the relationship between the main characters than the plot arc.
That’s certainly the case here as Hal is forced to choose a side when his old vampire associates make an offer anyone could find difficult to resist.
The Graveyard is simply hilarious as Hal finds himself slumming it in the cafe with Tom.
The banter between is excellent and by the time the episode’s over, it’s fair to say these are characters that we really care about.
Their bet to see who can chat up the goth Michaela are side splitting.
It wouldn’t be Being Human without a hint of darkness and in that respect it didn’t disappoint either.
There had been fears that with the change of cast that Being Human would never recover.
Those fears are allayed with a cracking episode that shows that Being Human has lost none of its lustre.
