Game of Thrones loses the head over George W Bush

June 18th, 2012 by Marc 2 Comments

HBO has removed season one of Game Of Thrones finale episode from retail, network and online. Are they losing their head? Well, yes…

So what happened?
Well, on the commentary track on the DVDs and Blu-rays the showrunners mentioned that they buy the fake body parts in wholesale from a supplier. They pointed out that one of the heads seen on the stakes after the young king Joffrey Baratheon beheads SPOILER ALERT Eddard Stark is actually George W Bush.
The head (pictured above) is only seen for a second and has a wig on it and is glimpsed in profile, so there’s no chance anyone would make the connection.
However, now Republican politicians are calling for a boycott of the show due to the fact that it’s disrespectful.
In an official statement on Friday, the network said: “We were deeply dismayed to see this and find it unacceptable, disrespectful and in very bad taste. We made this clear to the executive producers of the series, who apologized immediately for this careless mistake. We condemn it in the strongest possible terms and have halted all future shipments of the DVDs, removed it from our digital platforms and will edit the scene for all future airings on any distribution domestic or international.”

So, should we all rush out and buy the DVD and Blu-rays still sitting in stores? Well, we’d never recommend such a thing…

Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
