Doctor Who Christmas specials have been notorious for bagging a load of guest stars, and this year is to be no different, with five actors set to go on an Xmas adventure with the Doctor.

Nick Frost, Natalie Gumede, Faye Marsay, Nathan McMullen and Michael Troughton are working on the episode which is currently in production and promises to be an unmissable adventure.

The most widely known name in the line up is without a doubt Frost, who has popped up in such movies as The World’s EndShaun of the DeadHot FuzzCuban Fury andPaul.

Frost said “I’m so thrilled to have been asked to guest in the Doctor Who Christmas Special, I’m such a fan of the show. The read-through was very difficult for me; I wanted to keep stuffing my fingers into my ears and scream ‘No spoilers!’ Every day on set I’ve had to silence my internal fan-boy squeals!”

His role in the special will also cement him next to Simon Pegg, Jessica Hynes, Michael Smiley and Bill Bailey as actors from the Channel 4 sitcom Spaced who have made appearances in the show.

Michael Troughton, the son of second Doctor actor Patrick Troughton, will be following both his and his brother David’s footsteps with his appearance int he show.

They will be joined by Natalie Gumede, Faye Marsay and Nathan McMullen.

Showrunner Steven Moffat said: “Frost at Christmas – it just makes sense! I worked with Nick on the Tintin movie many years ago and it’s a real pleasure to lure him back to television for a ride on the TARDIS.”

The BBC have also confirmed that Jenna Coleman will appear in the special, debunking any rumours that she will be departing the show at the end of this series.
