Plot details leaked for Dredd: Mega-City One pilot episode?

September 26th, 2020 by Marc Comments

You will probably be well aware that a Judge Dredd TV series, Mega-City One, has been in the pipeline for a few years now – 2017, in fact.

And every few weeks it seems there’s new reports that Karl Urban will return as Dredd (you can check all our updates here) and as time goes on we just despair that it may never come to be.

But! Today we have a new report that a plot line for the show’s pilot may have been revealed.

The new report states that America Jara will be the basis for the show’s debut, based on the comics story, America, wherein America Jara was the daughter of a Puerto Rican couple in Mage-City One who due to the Judges and a series of unfortunate events ends up getting involved in terrorism and murder.

The story focuses on America and Bennett Beeny who rebel against the law and eventually turn to crime and terror and, written by comics legend John Wagner, it portrays Dredd and the judges as the villains of the piece.

Opening the series by questioning what you think you know about the Judges could be a great way to throw the viewer off-balance right from the beginning and, given how busy Urban is, it would also make sense that should he come back (please, please, please!) it will be as a cameo appearance.

What say you all? Would this be a good place to start a Mega-City One series? Do you like the idea of the show concentrating not on Dredd himself, but on the host of other characters in the world? Let me know…
