Get ready for the new daily show

There will (probably) not be a second season of Watchmen

It looks like the Watchmen will not be back for a second season… despite what that poster above says.

While the show has won much critical acclaim – personally, I didn’t think that much of it, but, hey, different strokes, right? – and seemed to hold its own in the ratings, it appears that, as we suspected might happen, a second season will not be happening.

Creator Damon Lindelof has confirmed that he has no desire to bring the characters back for a second year (despite that cliffhanger-esque ending) and it seems that the studio, HBO, are happening enough to adhere to his wishes.

HBO programming chief Casey Bloys told USA Today  that “It’s really in Damon’s thinking about what he wants to do. If there’s an idea that excited him about another season, another installment, maybe like a ‘Fargo,’ ‘True Detective’ (anthology) take on it, or if he wants to do something different altogether. We’re very proud of ‘Watchmen,’ but what I’m most interested in what Damon wants to do.”

He added that Lindelof has given HBO ‘his blessing’ to go for a second season, but adds: “It would be hard to imagine doing it without Damon involved in some way.”

There’s no arguing that the series was a ballsy endeavour, bringing the world a follow-up to the iconic comic book rather than the movie, but I never felt it truly felt like the same world of either, really, so I’m not disappointed at the news… although, I’d watch a Looking Glass series, should that ever happen.

Anyway, what do you all think? I want to hear it all, gang…

Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
