During their pre E3 press conference Konami has confirmed that 24 star Kiefer Sutherland will be providing the voice for Solid Snake in Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain.
This will be the first time that series regular David Hayter will not be voicing the iconic character.
During the presentation, series director Hideo Kojima explained that Avi Arad suggested that Mr Sutherland would be perfect for the role: “He’s the one who introduced me to Mr. Keifer Sutherland. And I was like ‘why didn’t I think of that?'” explained Kojima.
Sutherland said: “I’m not a gamer and I even knew about this game!
“I was certainly keenly aware of the legacy of these games, the unbelievable success of these games and how iconic the character was.”
This is not the first time that Sutherland has voiced a character in a game, the actor appeared in Call of Duty and 24: The Game to name a few and has also admitted that he isn’t a gamer at all but enjoys doing the voice-overs of them.
The release date for Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain wasn’t revealed but hopefully we should learn more at next week’s E3.
