Alan Keenan brings us the news that Activision has announced today that they are making a first person shooter (FPS) game of ‘The Walking Dead’, based on AMC’s series of the same name.
To add to confusion this will be the second ‘Walking Dead’ game to be released as Telltale Games have already released an episodic format game which is on its second episode.
The difference being, Telltale Games one is based on Robert Kirkman’s phenomenal comic book, and Activision’s will be based on the TV show.
Other differences include the fact that Telltale Games game is a slow paced, tense game based on player choices and Activision’s will be an FPS based more on action and survival horror.
So far all that’s been released has been a small press statement, a few teaser pictures and a teaser trailer. It’s slated to be released in 2013 for Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC.
In the press release it says the game is based on show regular Daryl Dixon and his brother Merle as they make their way to the “safety” of Atlanta, there will be a choice of stealth or going all gun ho, but supplies will be scarce and players will have to ration their food.
Players will also meet others along the way, some good and some not so good, depending on the choices the player makes these people could become friends or enemies.
In Activision’s own words “no place is truly safe for Daryl as he makes his way through the Georgia countryside in this new, post-apocalyptic world.”
The trailers and pictures aren’t telling us much just now so we’ll just have to wait and see.
