There’s quite a few game series that would do extremely well on the Nintendo Switch, Oddworld is one of them. Munch’s Oddysee is the first game of the series to make its way onto the Switch, so let’s take a look.
Munch’s Oddysee was the third game in the series and was originally released in 2001. Different from the first two, this one focused on the little critter Munch instead of everyone’s favorite mumbling alien, Abe.
So the first thing I have to say about the game is that unfortunately it’s just a port.
From what I can tell and what I can remember, nothing has been remastered from the original game. This doesn’t diminish from the game-play in any way, but a little texturing would go a long way to a now 19-year-old game.
Only other downside is a control issue – now, this is completely just preference but when controlling the camera I prefer to have inverted controls for left and right. Unfortunately this is not the case here and currently it has no way of changing it.
As for the game-play, it’s absolutely seamless.
The game runs a lot quicker and smoother than on any of the previous consoles. Paired with the download size, which is minuscule compared to some Switch games, it’s an absolute win w-in for some good old-fashioned fun.
Control both Abe and Munch through their journey to save their species from becoming lunch on this epic journey packed full of fun and nostalgia.

How would you feel if you broke your leg in a scrab trap, were abducted by soulless scientists, had an alien device implanted in your skull, and found out your race had been hunted to extinction?
It’s up to you to help guide Munch in efforts to rescue fellow test creatures. These critters will be forever loyal to Munch and in turn enable his escape . Once free, Munch teams up with Abe and together they are guided by the wisdom of the Almighty Raisin. They are informed as to how to accomplish their goals, but in order to do so, they must work together. For Munch, his dream is to bring back his species from the brink of extinction. For Abe, it is to rescue his Mudokon buddies.
Using special powers, cool power-ups, and other special abilities to deliver payback to the Vykkers, Abe and Munch reclaim the last gabbit eggs on Oddworld, which have been packaged in a can of gabbiar. May Odd help you!
