WATCH: Meet the Playstation 4 user interface

June 19th, 2013 by Stuart Miller Comments

Even though Sony showed off the new Playstation 4 at the E3 press conference, what they didn’t show was how the new interface would look, well they have released a new video detailing what is in store for us…

The video centers around three friends, firstly it shows Will booting up his console and being told by his friend Sarah that she has unlocked a Platinum trophy in one of the launch titles Kanck. While playing the game and struggling to beat an enemy, Sarah posts a video to help and Will is able to switch to it straight away to find out how to finish off the bad guy he is trying to beat.

Next, one of Will’s friends Brian asks for help in Killzone Shadow Fall via cross-game chat using the new headset, Will explains to him that he doesn’t have the game so with a touch of a button he is able to go to the new Playstation store, he finds the game but is given the option to either just download the single player or multi-player component first.

Other things on show is how fluid it moves and how streamlined the new interface looks. One of the biggest problems with the Playstation 3 was that it didn’t have cross-game chat, however they have made sure to implement it into the Playstation 4 from the start.

The Playstation 4 is set to go on sale by the end of the year and will be priced at £349/$399/€399.
