Some great news for fans of Doctor Who today as, once again, Big Finish proves it’s the go-to place for great Doctor Who content.
On The One Show last night, former Doctor Who showrunner Russell T Davies – he was the man responsible for bringing Doctor Who back with Eccleston and then he also oversaw the Tennant years too – revealed that he recently found an unused script he wrote in 1985 on an electric typewriter in Cardiff, the home of modern Doctor Who.
“I reached into one of those boxes you have at home full of old papers and old bills and I found this,” Davies said, holding up the script, “It is a Doctor Who script that I wrote in 1985 on an electric typewriter in a bedsit in Cardiff.”
He goes on: “And I think someone is going to make it. My friend Scott Hancock’s going to make an audio version of this with a company called Big Finish, so that’ll be nice!”
This will be more than nice, it’s a must-have item and goes to show that, twenty years before bringing the iconic series back, Davies was such a big fan he was already writing scripts in his early 20s.
I loved his era running Doctor Who and will be first in with the pre-orders when this is put up.
