So, last week, the internet nearly exploded when a set photo was taken of Zachary Levi’s SHAZAM! outfit from the upcoming film. The catch was that we could only see it from the side and from the back. This wasn’t all bad, as it gave us a look at the hooded cloak he wears, as well as the golden gauntlets, boots, and even the belt. However, that wasn’t enough for fans.
Why? Well, the iconic part of SHAZAM! (aside from the cloak) is his lightning bolt. This goes especially for newer versions of the character that emphasized it a lot more than the classic version of the character. So, when the photo below was spread across the internet…people were happy.
Yes, not the best quality, but it shows the important thing that everyone was looking for, the lightning bolt. Interestingly enough, this version of the lightning looks pulled straight from the Justice League War animated film (the picture at the top of the page is from that film). This might be the best option for them, as the New 52 version has a deeper cut lightning bolt that is flowing with magic constantly, which likely would’ve raised the budget a lot.
All in all, without seeing the character with effects and such, this is a very comics/animated film accurate take on the SHAZAM! outfit. The only real question now is how the lightning will look, and when we’ll get the “true reveal” of the costume via director David Sandberg.
Hopefully it’ll be soon. SHAZAM! arrives on April 5th, 2019.
