Deadline is reporting that 20th Century Fox has begun negotiations with The Wolverine director James Mangold to return for another Wolverine movie starring Hugh Jackman as Logan. Mangold is negotiating now to write the treatment for the film with Lauren Shuler Donner returning to produce. The report makes no mention of him directing but it’s probably a given. No word on what the storyline is, since Fox is keeping it under wraps for now.
Mangold’s The Wolverine has grossed $413.6 million at the worldwide box office to date and is the second-highest grossing film in the X-Men franchise behind X-Men: The Last Stand‘s $459.4 million.
I wasn’t a fan of The Wolverine or X-Men Origins: Wolverine either although he is one of my favorite characters. I feel they should give him a rest for a while.
Now if they wanted to make something like Old Man Logan…
