Two movies and an animated series in and Pacific Rim is being looked at for a live-action TV series, it seems.
Eric Heisserer and Carmen Lewis’ Chronology is looking to develop, as its first project, a Pacific Rim prequel series with Legendary Pictures.
“Eric is a multitalented, prolific creator whose track record of critical and commercial successes speaks for itself,” said Jason Clodfelter, president of Legendary Television.
“We are thrilled to launch our partnership with Eric, Chronology, and Carmen, with a new entry in the epic, globally popular ‘Pacific Rim’ universe. We are certain their vision will make for an enthralling expansion to Legendary’s beloved franchise.”
Heisserer received an Academy Award nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay for 2017’s Arrival, he also wrote Bird Box and Lights Out and now he wants to write giant mechs versus giant monsters and, honestly, who can blame him?
While the second Pacific Rim movie was very disappointing, the first is still a riot and the animated show showed that there’s a lot of mythology to delve into and a prequel explaining how the Kaiju first came to earth through the void could be an exciting event series for sure.
I’d still love to see it meeting the Monsterverse though…
Thoughts? I want to hear them, guys.
