It looks like we’re on the cusp of another shared universe and you all know I love one of those if done right…
New Line Cinema released the first three teasers for Barbarian director Zach Creggar’s new movie, Weapons, which sees the children in the small American town of Mybrook disappear at 2:17am one night, never to be seen again.
The new teasers, all below, feature security camera footage which captured the kids before vanishing and, as sparse as it is, it still sends a chill up the spine. You can check out the clips below.
Confirmed: Ready Or Not and Abigail take place in the same world
But when you’re done there, head over to MaybrookMissing.net, where the mystery deepens and then connects to Creggar’s other scarer, Barbarian.
The website reads: “A chilling mystery has gripped the small town of Maybrook after 17 children voluntarily left their homes Wednesday morning. Authorities are baffled by the inexplicable disappearance, which has shaken the community to its core. Upon investigation, front door camera footage showed the children leaving their homes at 2:17am Wednesday morning without any signs of force. Since then, little information has surfaced.”
So how does it connect to 2022’s Barbarian? Well, when you click the link to the news story reading Underground Prison Discovered in Rental Home,, you get brought to a news page that says:
“A rental property in Detroit’s Brightmoor neighborhood has become the focus of a chilling investigation after a local woman escaped the home under shocking circumstances and an actor was found dead nearby.
“I’ll be right back!” Matthew Lillard confirmed returning for Scream VII
“Police were alerted after Tess Marshall, 28, was discovered injured and disoriented outside the Barberry Street property. What began as a simple wellness check quickly turned into a large-scale crime scene. Investigators uncovered a network of hidden tunnels beneath the home, sparking questions about the property’s history and potential connection to unsolved disappearances dating back decades.
“Sources close to the investigation say the tunnels were likely constructed in the 1980s by a previous homeowner, now deceased. Disturbing items found in the subterranean chambers suggest prolonged and possibly criminal activity, though police have not confirmed details pending ongoing forensic analysis.
“The property had recently been listed as a short-term rental. Marshall, in town for a job interview, had reportedly been staying at the house when events took a violent turn.

“City officials are now urging caution and have announced emergency inspections of similar abandoned or neglected properties throughout the Brightmoor neighborhood. Mayor Sheryl Parks issued a statement calling the case “deeply troubling” and promised a full investigation into how such activity could go unnoticed for so long.”
Now, if you’ve seen Barbarian, starring Georgina Campbell, Bill Skarsgård and Justin Long, you’ll know that this is the story of that movie…
But will we see an explicit connection in Weapons? Hard to know, but isn’t it fun to ponder?
Weapons will be released in theaters on August 8, 2025.
