In the age of Invincible and The Boys, it should be no surprise that Kick-Ass is coming back… and coming back he is!
Speaking at New York Comic Con, director Matthew Vaughn spoke about his body of work and confirmed that everyone’s favourite green and yellow hero is set to make a return.
Speaking about the original Kick-Ass movie in 2010, Vaughn was keen to point out that it was a different kind of superhero movie and it challenged people’s perspective: “Kick-Ass sort of changed people’s perception of what a superhero film is at that time. So we’ll be doing it again.”

He was also keen to point out that Aaron Taylor-Johnson nor Chloë Grace Moretz would be returning as Kick-Ass or Hit-Girl but this was a full bricks-and-mortar reboot: “So it’s none of the characters from the other Kick-Ass. We’d like to bring them back after the reboot. This reboot is just going off on a tangent that I can’t really talk about now. But it’s fun.”
Kick-Ass creator Mark Millar took to social media, below, to confirm the news but that he “can say nothing until next year!”
I loved the first movie and the comics and, while I didn’t love the second movie, I’m excited to see what Millar and Vaughn have planned.
