If you know this site, you’ll know how big a fan I am of Ready or Not and Abigail, both by film-makers Radio Silence, and you’ll also know just how stoked I am for Ready or Not 2 which is due to arrive (hopefully) next year and tonight I have a fun, if confusing bit of casting news.
Abigail and Supernatural star Kathryn Newton has been cast in the horror sequel in a mystery role. Which I grand, I like Newtown just fine BUT she played Sammy in Abigail, a character who, let’s just say, doesn’t have a happy ending and the issue here is that Radio Silence, aka Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, have confirmed that both of those movies are the same horror universe.

Of course, we also know that Samara Weaving is back as Grace for the sequel but the casting of Newton has confused me more than it should have and yes, I know she could be a sister/different character or it might even be a prequel to Abigail in some way… only time will tell.
In the first 2019 movie, Weaving’s Grace married into a very wealthy family who made their fortune through board games and, on the night of the wedding, she ended up playing what she thought was a family tradition and a harmless game of hide and seek… but very quickly she was fighting for her life against a bunch of people she thought she could safe and perhaps the devil himself.
As I said, I’m a fan of Newton and love Abigail and Ready or Not, so I’m still stoked to see what happens next in this world.
