Amazing Spider-man 2 casts its Norman Osborn

Man, I loved Amazing Spider-man. Hard. And the more I hear about new cast members the more I think the sequel is going to be a real contender for best Marvel movie of 2014.

We all knew that Norman Osborn was going to make an appearance sooner or later in Marc Webb’s Spidey trilogy. And just who would play him was something I was curious about… I had a few ideas in my head but none as cool as the man who has been hired for the role. One of FTN’s favourite actors, American Beauty’s Chris Cooper.

Yes, The Hollywood Reporter has just announced that Cooper has signed on the dotted line and will play the man who would be Green Goblin.

But with the inclusion of all the characters from the first movie, plus Rhino, Electro, Mary Jane, Harry Osborne and the promise of more of the story of Peter Parker’s parents to come too, I have to hope this doesn’t become Spider-man 3 or, even worse, Batman and Robin, with far too many characters fighting  to be noticed. But to be honest, I really have faith in Marc Webb after the first movie and I think that with X-Men, Thor, Capt America, Ant-man and all the rest still to come, it’s this one I’m the most giddy about… May 2nd, 2014 can’t get here fast enough.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
