She denied it, but it looks like Hayley Atwell IS returning in Captain America: The Winter Soldier…
Despite Winter Soldier taking place in the modern day, after the first movie, it looks like Peggy Carter, the love of Steve Rogers’ life, will be back, although in what capacity is still up for total speculation.
Although, there’s really only two ways. Either in flashback – although how much more there can be to here story given the way it was covered in the first movie is questionable – or, and this seems more likely to us at FTN, Steve visits her in the modern day despite her age, as he – and this was explored in Mark Millar’s Ultimates – is having difficulty adjusting to modern life.
This all comes from Stanley Tucci who, at Jack The Giant Slayer junket, told Collider that he and Atwell will be returning but he will not. Tucci played Dr. Abraham Erskine in the first movie, the scientist who made Rogers tha man he is today…
