Look, as I patiently wait for my Godzilla Minus One Super 7 figure to be delivered, I don’t think I need to explain to you, constant reader, just how much I love that movie. And it seems I am not alone.
Back in January, writer, SFX guy and director of Godzilla Minus One, Takashi Yamazaki visited Lucasfilm and told the world how his love of Star Wars led to his being a filmmaker: “I watched Star Wars, and that’s how I ended up being a filmmaker,” Yamazaki said at the time, “I’m really hoping I will get a call and they will bring me on Star Wars.”
Well, we then learned that Yamazaki met with Dave Filoni, Lucasfilm’s Executive Vice President and Chief Creative Officer in January and then, despite not having been involved in Star Wars yet, made an appearance at Star Wars Celebration Japan a few weeks ago, which had many fans wondering if he was, indeed, set to have a Star Wars gig down the line.

Well, now Filoni has spoken out and confirmed that he wants to see a Star Wars project from Yamazaki, though he understands it might be a while: “I’d like to leave it up to his creativity, rather than telling him, ‘I want you to do this’,” Filoni says.
“However, he seems to be very busy with the next Godzilla movie … I’m really looking forward to [it],” he added.
Look, he’s been to Skywalker Ranch, he’s appeared at Celebration and Filoni has said he wants him to make a Star Wars project AND he’s said he loves Star Wars and wants to work on it.
Yeah, Yamazaki is already in the loop… we just haven’t been told yet. Probably. I really hope.
Thoughts? I know you have them, and I want to hear them all!
