Waaay back in February we reported that Seven and Fight Club director David Fincher wanted to direct the sequel to the Brad Pitt zombie movie, World War Z.
Since then it’s been pretty quiet. Until now.
A new report from Variety is saying that Fincher is all but confirmed to be bringing Pitt back to fight the hoards of the undead:
“Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions look to be moving forward with a “World War Z” sequel, with David Fincher directing and Brad Pitt back to star, thanks to the studio’s new chairman and CEO Jim Gianopulos, according to knowledgeable sources.
“While Gianopulos has not officially official greenlit the movie yet, he is expected to do so in coming weeks. This will likely be among the studio chief’s first greenlit movies. Sources say that production would probably begin in the first quarter of 2018.”
Gianopulos has taken over the studio from Brad Grey who cancelled the sequel, however is is expected now that with the new man in charge the zombie sequel will be reinstated pretty soon.
While reports are that Fincher had no desire to make a sequel – especially one to an original he had nothing to do with – the word is that when Brad Pitt, who starred in Fincher’s Se7en, Fight Club and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, asks Fincher to work with him, he listens.
Would you like to see the pair work together again? Frankly the idea of a David Fincher zombie more has us already offering to give all our money to make it happen.
