He may be pushing 70 years old but the legend who is Denzel Washington is set for more ass-kicking adventures, not just in the Equalizer franchise but he’s joining the MCU too!
While many believed that Antoine Fuqua’s Equalizer 3 was the end of the trilogy as well as the end of Washington’s Robert McCall, it seems that nothing could be further from the truth.
“I told them I would do another Equalizer, and we’re doing four and five,” Washington has revealed in a new interview.
Run, Hide, Fight star Isabel May cast in big Scream VII role
Going on, the star reveals that while the movies are big hits with fans and at the box office, “I’ve come to realise that the Equalizer films are for me, too, because they’re for the people. They want me to go get the bad guys. ‘We can’t get them, so you go get them.’ And I say, Okay, I’ll get them! Just wait right there. I’ll be right back!”
While it’s great to know that McCall is returning, many might be even more excited to learn that he’s also heading to Wakanda in the third Black Panther movie courtesy of director Ryan Coogler.
After revealing in a very matter-of-fact way in an interview (below), Washington has revealed a bit more about how it came about but reveals that he still has no idea what the role is exactly but he’s keen to find out: “I don’t even know what it is yet, he just said he was gonna write something. It’s all the Ryan Coogler [effect]. You know, Ryan talked to me about it, and I said ‘Whatever it is, I love you, go do it, and I’ll read it.’
“You know, I guess I didn’t ask for permission, but he came to me. So I called him yesterday, I was like ‘I’m sorry, I didn’t know it was gonna happen like this.’ I don’t know why, I guess it is news or something. But the bottom line is I don’t even know what it is. If it’s one line, one scene or I really don’t. But I told him ‘Whatever it is I’ll do it,’ because it’s Ryan. And I love him and his wife.”
Well, we here at FTN HQ love Washington and will welcome more Equalizer movies and an MCU appearance with wide open arms.
