Waaaaiiiiiitttttttttt… they wouldn’t. Would they?
So, fans of the Fast and Furious franchise (like I unashamedly am) will know that over the course of eight movies and a spin-off the series has gone all over the globe, dropped cars out of aeroplanes to land safely and had cars fighting nuclear submarines and it’s often been joked that space may be the only place left for the franchise to go.
But perhaps it’s no longer just a joke.
Is the franchise set to leave earth?!
With the nine movie currently postponed due to that damned virus until next April, we just have the awesome trailer (here) to keep us going and have to imagine where this series might go next.
Now, in an interview on Sirius XM’s The Jess Cagle Show, Fast & Furious star Ludacris talked about how the lockdown is giving the creatives behind the series more time to ensure it’s the best entry it can be and during that chat host Jess Cagle joked that space is the only place the franchise can go.
“You just said something very important,” Ludacris responded.
“I will say that you are very intuitive, cause you said something right, but I’m not going to give it away.”
Now it’s very possible that Ludacris is only kidding here – he probably is – but honestly, at this stage in the franchise nothing would surprise me and, look, James Bond went into space so the idea of Dom and his crew doing it really doesn’t seem that strange, does it?
My guess is they’d need to go up to destroy a satellite or something like that… the idea of them stopping an alien invasion seems unlikely. But also awesome.
Vin Diesel’s Dom Toretto is leading a quiet life off the grid with Letty and his son, little Brian, but they know that danger always lurks just over their peaceful horizon.
This time, that threat will force Dom to confront the sins of his past if he’s going to save those he loves most.
His crew joins together to stop a world-shattering plot led by the most skilled assassin and high-performance driver they’ve ever encountered: a man who also happens to be Dom’s forsaken brother, Jakob (John Cena, next year’s The Suicide Squad).
