Like Game of Thrones on the small screen? Well, it may be set to get much bigger as a big screen movie is currently being developed at Warner Bros.
Now, just for clarity, there is currently no director, writer, cast or even writer attached at the minute, so it’s basically a could of folk sitting in the lunch room discussing the idea, but it’s certainly being considered.
Would it be a prequel to House of the Dragon? Set between the two shows or set after the original Game of Thrones? Unclear at this point.
George RR Martin writing Game of Thrones spinoff A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight
What we do know is that originally there was discussions at Warners involving showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss and creator George RR Martin to finish the original series with a series of movies rather than a final season – in hindsight, it might have been a good idea – but ultimately HBO and WB balked at the idea.
However, with animated projects and several spinoffs, including A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms series coming next year, it seems that new management has decided that perhaps a movie isn’t such a bad idea after all.
Honestly, a big screen GoT adventure might work well, after all, the world of Westeros and beyond is massive enough and full enough to lend itself to any scale.
Thoughts on this one, guys?
