Screenwriter David Goyer has been speaking about his involvement in the hotly anticipated Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice this week and whether he sees it as ‘Man of Steel 2’.

In an interview with Den of Geek, Goyer had this to say: “[Is it Man of Steel 2?] There’s certainly a continuity between the two films. Let’s say that. I guess it’s up to the fans to decide.

“I would say it is Man of Steel 2 but I also say The Avengers was Iron Man 3 and Avengers 2 is Iron Man 5. Probably. It’s a little bit like that.”

Naturally having worked on what very well could be one of the biggest movies of all time, Goyer is getting grilled for any info on the movie wherever he is interviewed: “[Having seen an early cut of BvS] I think just the kind of giddiness in being a kid that grew up going to the comic book store every Saturday and reading comic books in which these two epic characters clashed. Just the fact that I got to be involved in something like that is crazy. Much less that I got to be involved in two cinematic iterations of Batman is also crazy.”

Goyer wouldn’t spoil any particular aspect of the movie except to say: “There’s some cool stuff that happens in the film, let’s just leave it at that.”

Total Film have revealed more images from the movie (above and below) and in the article, Superman himself, Henry Cavill revealed the prologue of the movie: “What happens there is one of Bruce’s buildings gets destroyed and he’s trying to save all the people inside the building  and he can’t. So he is this angry person who fears what Superman may do. Why are they just going to trust this super-powered alien? What if he does decide to turn against us?”

Pretty much what we saw in the second trailer. Ben Affleck (Batman) adds: “He’s found himself in a place of harboring a tremendous amount of rage for Superman. So it’s how he got there, and what that’s done to him, and what that’s done to people around him like Alfred, who are, I think, very scared and worried for him. It’s something that’s interesting and new.”

We love the idea of Batman giving into the rage and going after Superman and we know he’ll have to pull it back at some stage. We’re so excited for this movie. What about you guys?

Fearing the actions of a god-like Super Hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.

Directed by Zack Snyder and written by Chris Terrio from a screenplay by David S. Goyer, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice stars Henry Cavill in the role of Clark Kent/Superman and Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/Batman. The film also stars Gal Gadot as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman, with Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane returning from Man of Steel, joined by Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons as Alfred, and Holly Hunter in a role newly created for the film. Jason Momoa will also be making an appearance as Aquaman.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will open on March 25 2016.
