OK, i’m gonna put my line on this one… there’s a rumour online that Idris Elba is playing Deathstroke AKA Slade Wilson in the Suicide Squad sequel.
He’s not. I refuse to believe it.
We already have an awesome Slade Wilson in the DC Cinematic universe in the form of Joe Manganiello (above) who was briefly introduced in the Justice League post-credit scene and was set to be the main villain in Ben Affleck’s Batman standalone movie before, well, you know the rest.
However, Manganiello’s Deathstroke is established in the universe now so we seriously doubt Elba will be playing him.
The reason? Well, apparently his character has a daughter, which is likely why he was originally Deadshot (previously played by Will Smith in the first Suicide Squad movie) and, yes, Deathstroke does has a daughter, but there’s a lot of those floating around the DC Universe.
Now, don’t get us wrong, Elba would rock the hell out of either Deathstroke or Deadshot, but honestly, I doubt he’ll be either; in fact, for the sake of continuity, I hope he’s a different character altogether.
Let me know your thoughts…
Hearing some veeeeeery interesting whispers about Idris Elba’s character in James Gunn’s ‘The Suicide Squad’.
Wouldn’t it be awesome if he were playing DEATHSTROKE? 😉 pic.twitter.com/wTfo3uEaRe
