IT director puts Robotech movie on hold to direct IT sequel

With IT only days away (we’re hoping to have our review online tomorrow), it looks like the director, Andy Muschietti, has his eyes already set on his next project.

And, as expected, he’s heading back to Castlerock for another tussle with Pennywise the clown and The Loser’s Club.

Fans of the book will know that The Losers Club fight Pennywise as kids and then, 27 years later, they return as adults to fight him again… and its pretty clear that the first movie is merely their first confrontation.

Muschetti has also signed on for the live-action Robotech movie but has told Italian film outlet Bad Taste that he’s focused on the sequel first: “No, It 2 is my priority. I would [focus] on Robotech later.”

He also turned down the possibility of directing the Warner/DC Justice League Dark movie for IT 2, so he’s definitely dedicated.

IT can be found in your local sewers from September 8th

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
