Some news for all you Guardians of the Galaxy fans out there…
Remember a few days ago it was reported that writer/director James Gunn had confirmed the third movie? Well, slow down there partner, it seems he’s reneged. Somewhat.
Speaking to Yahoo!, Gunn said: “There are no specific plans for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
“But we know unless something goes horribly — which is always possibly, you never know — I think that Marvel would want to make another movie. [Marvel chief] Kevin Feige a year-and-a-half ago said, ‘Yeah, one of our things that we’d be thinking about will be a Guardians 3.‘”
We don’t think it’s a stretch to imagine a third Guardians movie happening though, do you?
In related news, Empire have released three new images from the movie (below), including a new one featuring Kurt Russell as Ego the Living Planet.
Speaking about Russell, Gunn said: “I started writing for Kurt as I was finishing the screenplay.
“I would have been really disappointed if he’d said no.
“We have over a trillion polygons on Ego’s planet. It’s the biggest visual effect of all time. There’s nothing even close to it. Which is cool.”
We’re still excited to see how Ego is a man AND a planet, but we’re sure all will be revealed soon enough.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is written and directed by James Gunn (Slither). The film marks the return of the original Guardians, including Chris Pratt (Jurassic World) as Peter Quill/Star-Lord; Zoe Saldana (Star Trek Into Darkness) as Gamora; Dave Bautista (Spectre) as Drax; Vin Diesel (Furious 7) as the voice of Groot; Bradley Cooper (American Sniper) as the voice of Rocket; Michael Rooker (Jumper) as Yondu; Karen Gillan (The Big Short) as Nebula; and Sean Gunn (Gilmore Girls) as Kraglin.
