Jon Berthal’s Punisher joins Spider-man: Brand New Day cast

It looks like Disney+’s upcoming Punisher special Presentation is only the beginning of Jon Bernthal’s full integration into the MCU as after that will be a major appearance for Marvel’s favourite antihero.

So far, Bernthal’s Frank Castle AKA The Punisher, has appeared in Netflix’s (now MCU canon) Daredevil series, had his own Punisher series on the streamer and most recently he’s appeared in Daredevil: Born Again and then it was revealed he was getting a Special Presentation similar to the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special and Werewolf By Night one’s previously done on Disney+.

And now he’s set to appear for the first time on the big screen alongside Tom Holland as he joins the cast of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the fourth Spider-Man movie from Sony and Marvel, set to be directed by Destin Daniel Cretton.

So far, the story for the movie is a real mystery, with a female villain looking likely – possibly played by Stranger Things star Sadie Sink? – and Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk possibly being a bad guy too, similar to the Hulk we met in Avengers… but it’s all a bit speculative at this point.

Zendaya and Jacob Batalon are also set to return as MJ and Ned, however, what their role will be, given how Spider-Man: No Way Home ended, is anyone’s guess.

Having Spidey and Punisher together is pretty exciting for this comic book fan, as I grew up reading Amazing Spider-Man in the 90s and loved the dynamic between the two, so I hope they can do something similar with the duo here.

This also hints at a more street-level movie involving Spider-Man, which is what fans have hoped to see in the MCU, given how multi-verse and space adventure-led his adventures have been so far… could we be seeing Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock AKA Daredevil appearing too? That would be very cool, indeed.

Thought? I know you have ’em and I want to hear ’em all!

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is set for release on July 31st, 2026.
