Justice League Movie gets its hero line-up

With all the talk during the week about Jimmy Olsen/Jenny Olsen in Man of Steel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt denying he’ll be playing Batman in the future (link)  it’s the turn of the Justice League movie to grab some attention…

Over at aintitcool they’re saying the hero line-up for the Justice League’s first movie has been finalised and it’s Batman, Superman, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman and The Flash.

So that means that Martian Manhunter, Aquaman and Hawkman are all out for the first adventure, although Latino Review is claiming that Hawkman and Aquaman could pop up in a cameo capacity ala Hawkeye in Thor.

This means that Man Of Steel, if successful, will be the only pre-cursor to the Justice League onscreen. And Warners are working on standalone adventures for both Wonder Woman and The Flash, so we can assume these will come after the League’s debut.

Since the Superman origins will undoubtedly be retold in Man of Steel and the Batman origins have been done twice in the last couple of decades, it makes sense that the other League members will now get their own movies. Does this mean Ryan Reynolds’ Green Lantern will be in this movie continuity? Unlikely we think, but again, do we need the origins retold?

So, ultimately does this mean that we’ll be introduced to characters in the Justice League movie who are already established with their origins told in our second meeting (A New Hope, anyone?)? It’s odd and feels like maybe DC are looking to cash in on Avengers. We hope we’re wrong, but it’s all a little… bizarro.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
