Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock want to reunite for a third Speed movie and I would watch the hell out of that… just as long as it isn’t another fourth matrix debacle (man, that movie sucked).
Jan DeBont’s Speed came out thirty years ago and not only was it a cracking watch but it pretty much sealed in Reeves and Bullock as legitimate stars and household names however, when it came to Speed 2 in 1997, Reeves stepped down leaving Jason Patrick to step up as new character alongside DeBont once again directing and Bullock returning.

The sequel was a flop with Bullock saying in later years she was embarrassed at how bad it was, while Reeves said in 2021: “I had nothing against the artists involved, but at that time I had the feeling it just wasn’t right.”
However, now the duo are keen to reunite for a third movie, saying there’s more story to tell: “We’d freakin’ knock it out of the park,” Reeves says.
Bullock adds: “Before I die, before I leave this planet, I do think that Keanu and I need to do something in front of the camera. Are we, you know, in wheelchairs or with walkers? Maybe. Are we on little scooters at Disneyland?”
Getting a little morbid, Reeves tells Bullock: “It does feel like there is a siren call to it, like there’s something that wasn’t done. I would love to work with you again before our eyes close.”
On the filming of the movie, Reeves certainly seems to remember it fondly, saying: “We had an affection and the characters themselves have an affection. I think [their characters] Jack and Annie’s is different than Sandra’s and Keanu’s, but I think we played off each other and I think it was just fun. I think, also, we kind of trusted each other, right?”
“There was nothing that I couldn’t try or do or say that he wouldn’t have,” says Bullock, “I felt, fought for me to do or say or try, and that kind of trust is very rare with actors. Anytime I threw something his way, he swatted it right back and you just go, ‘Okay, there’s my partner’.”
It’s very clear that these two would love to work together and with Reeves being a bigger star now than ever, if there is a time to capitalise and give Jack and Annie that happy ending, then it’s almost certainly now, after all, we live in a world where older heroes are back in the spotlight and Reeves himself is no stranger to playing these.
Thoughts? Would you like to see another Speed movie starring Reeves and Bullock? Perhaps overwriting Speed 2 (sorry Jason Patric)? Let me know…
