So there’s a lot of rumour and speculation going on about what will happen after Avengers: Infinity War (there’s loads of new images from the movie below for your enjoyment)… who will live, who will die and what next for the MCU?
Well, now we have some idea thanks to Marvel Movie President Kevin Feige.
Speaking at CCXP Marvel panel, Feige teased the where the movies may go next: “If the Avengers survive, we will see more films with them in space. I love and would like to see more films in space.”
Now, given the success of Thor: Ragnarok and the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, and the fact that Thanos is the culmination of years setting up a ‘cosmic’ villain and added to this the fact that the new series of Agents of SHIELD is set in space, then we really have to say that we aren’t terribly surprised to hear this news.
That said, we really like the fact that the MCU has a nice mix of everything cosmic and terrestrial, so we’d be hopeful that, even though James Gunn, director of the GotG movies is looking after the MCU’s ‘cosmic’, we’ll still see stories set in all corners of the MCU.
In a recent interview, Ant-man and the Wasp star Evangeline Lily said: “In Ant-Man and the Wasp, they [Hank Pym and Hope Van Dyne] are trying everything in their power to safely enter the quantum realm and return back from it because they have evidence from the first film that Scott was able to do that. If he can do it, why can’t we”
“If we do succeed in Ant-Man and the Wasp, then that does open a whole entire new multi-verse to enter into and play around in. I’m not the story creator, so I can’t tell you what they’re going to do with that. But I definitely see the potential there.”
We’re guessing the Quantum Realm could play into this whole plan… the world is, after all, only a small part of the galaxy.
