LISTEN: Our man Andy chats to the legend that is Peter Capaldi about The Suicide Squad, Doctor Who and more…

One our favourite things – and there’s many – about The Suicide Squad was the great Peter Capaldi’s wonderfully manic performance as Gaius Grieves AKA the villainous Thinker.

It’s such a wonderful performance where Capaldi keeps his Scottish accent and delivers a role that is unashamedly depraved and evil but still totally likeable… the man is a gift to whatever fandom he graces.

And, with a current fan push online to have him return to the role of The Doctor in Doctor Who, we think it’s pretty clear that we’re not the only ones who love the guy.

Our guy Andrew managed to catch up with him to discuss Suicide Squad and his other roles, so, in association with Andy’s own Extra-Vision Podcast, we’re delighted to present this interview for your listening pleasure.

We discuss his role as The Thinker in The Suicide Squad, Doctor Who, Malcolm Tucker, auditioning for Star Trek, Lewis Capaldi and working with James Gandolfini. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
