After spending a third week atop the box office, it looks like the thriller could be getting a sequel!
Director Shyamalan posted a message on Twitter (below) over the weekend hinting that his next film will be a follow-up to his current hit
MAJOR SPOILERS BEYOND THIS POINT
The director is of course referring to the twist ending of Split which revealed that this film takes place in the same universe as Shyamalan’s other hit Unbreakable from 2000. The film’s credits features a cameo from Unbreakable’s protagonist David Dunn played by Bruce Willis which seemingly was included to help set up a further sequel with Dunn facing McEvoy’s antagonist dubbed ‘The Horde’.
I was a huge fan of Unbreakable and when the twist hit in Split, an already great film up until that point, my head was spinning. I’m really excited for the possibility of a sequel. Unbreakable, Split.. I’m calling it now, the third film will be titled ‘Shattered’.
