You might not know this but a new Blade movie was meant to arrive next November, introducing Mahershala Ali as the Daywalker in the MCU.
It’s not going to happen. That date has now been given to Predator: Badlands.
Honestly, it’s mindblowing that the MCU is finding it so hard to make a Blade movie with Ali almost walking altogether last year because the script reportedly focused on a group of female Vampire Hunters with Blade almost as a secondary character in his own movie.
First announced at SDCC 2019, the movie has been plagued with issues to the point that it is now gone from Marvel’s schedule altogether; that’s not to say it won’t return but as of now, it’s in production hell.
So far the movie has lost two directors in Bassam Tariq and then Yann Demange and it’s been extensively re-written due to Ali’s unhappiness – and the fans would have hated it too, I’d muster – and Ali himself is holding on by a thread at this point.
Look, let’s be honest, Wesley Snipes, the original Blade who returned in Wolverine & Deadpool and still kicks ass, is a little over ten years older than Ali and is still more than up to the task of being the Daywalker, the Slayer… Blade, so just bring him back as the MCU’s version of the character too.
Snipes said it himself in Deadpool & Wolverine:
