They did the mash…
Submitted for your approval: American takes on classic Japanese monster movies. 2014’s Godzilla was okay-ish, with everyone’s favourite radioactive mutant dinosaur battling giant invertebrates in San Francisco. This time, however, they’re dialling it up to Eleven. Literally.
Because not only is Millie Bobby Brown appearing in King of the Monsters, there are a boatload more giant monsters. See for yourself here:
At first glance there appears to be four other kaiju in this one. I’ve definitely clocked Mothra, Rodan and Ghidora, but also possibly Gamera? Toho have had the rights to him in the past, so it’s possible.

Oh, and that’s the SDCC exclusive poster above. Noice.
The sequel takes place five years after the events in the first film…
When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths—rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.
Zhang Ziyi, Kyle Chandler, Vera Farmiga, Millie Bobby Brown, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Bradley Whitford, Ken Watanabe, Thomas Middleditch, Charles Dance and Aisha Hinds star.
Dougherty directed from a script he wrote with Zach Shields.
Godzilla: King of the Monsters is slated for release on 31 May 2019.
