Mr Freeze set for The Batman Part II?

One of the longest-standing rumours about Matt Reeves’ The Batman Part II is that the main villain will be Mr Freeze and that rumour is back.

Scooper Jeff Sneider has reported that he has heard Freeze is back on the most likely list for the movie alongside Colin Farrell’s Penguin who once again is expected to be a supporting role in the movie as he was in the first The Batman movie and Barry Keoghan’s Joker is certainly a possibility to appear too.

The movie is rumoured to be set during winter, so this would certainly be the time Mr Freeze could appear. however, one of the reasons many believed Mr Freeze was unlikely to be the bad guy in the movie is because, as we saw in the first movie and the Penguin spin-off series, Reeves is intent on keeping his Gotham City as realistic as possible and Mr Freeze is one of Batman’s more ‘out there’ villains.

The Batman II and Batman: The Brave and the Bold movies both pushed back

Interestingly, we had heard in the past that Clayface may be set to be the villain in the movie and then, just a few weeks back, a Clayface movie was greenlit only it would be set in James Gunn’s more ‘out there’ DCU; this got me thinking… is it possible that Freeze being in the line-up is because there’s truth to the rumours that Robert Pattison’s Batman is set to move over to the DCU, meaning that Reeves’ universe isn’t standalone at all but rather is set in the same world as Creature Commandos and the upcoming Superman movie.

Honestly, I think Warners/DC are considering merging the universes over fears that two competing Batman worlds on the big screen would confuse general audiences.

Whatever happens, as long as Arnold Schwarzenegger isn’t back, we should be good!

“The Iceman cometh!”

Thoughts?

The Batman Part II is now set for October 1st, 2027.
