Magical things can happen in the most ordinary of places.
A while back in a Missouri diner, stars of cult classic Napoleon Dynamite, Jon Heder, Efren Ramirez and Jon Gries, all sat down together for some pancakes and coffee, below, and the internet started to wonder if a sequel could possibly be on the cards.
Well, it seems that that could actually happen.
In a recent interview, Ramirez, who played Pedro in the 2004 movie, says that there’s definitely talk of a sequel, providing there’s a reason for it to happen, but it’s certainly something that fans – and the actors – want:“Everyone wants a sequel. And I can say this legally, that the door’s not closed yet,” the actor said, adding, “there’s more to tell with these characters.”
The movie did spawn a brief animated series in 2012, proving there’s more to tell.
“When you have a really good story, whether you make a prequel or a sequel, you can really explore the depths of these characters of where they would be, or where they came from, or what led them to be where they’re at,” he adds.
I certainly wouldn’t be against a Napoleon Dynamite sequel but given the cult status of the movie, I think it would really have to be a low-budget affair that really has a voice and a story to tell, but that’s not impossible.
Just please, if you do a sequel, chaps, don’t mess it up.
