Well, we’re really only three months from the release of Man Of Steel, so it’s really no wonder we’re seeing and hearing exciting things…
The guys at Slashfilm have released new images from the set of the movie via io9 and they really show a more human side to Superman.
Director Zack Snyder told i09: “We’ve tried to make a Superman movie where he does stuff and you go, ‘Yeah, if I was Superman, that’s what I’d do. Even though he’s an alien, he’s more relatable, more human.”
While Henry Cavill, superman/Clark Kent in the movie added: “This is a Superman for a modern age. It’s not betraying anything that Superman is, but it is grounding everything in reality. It’s the story of this incredible being who can do incredible things, but whom we can associate with. Because he’s gone through troubling stuff and had to make tough choices…”
Meanwhile, talking to Total Film, Snyder was asked about the rumours that the Justice League movie depends on the success of Man of Steel and will he be involved: “I can’t really say [except that Superman] is the biggest superhero in the world. Or should be. He’s Superman, for God’s sake!”
Micheal Shannon, who was only this week described by Amy Adams, who plays Lois Lane in the movie, as “terrifying” in the role, also chatted about playing Superman’s enemy, General Zod – played by the great Terence Stamp in Donner’s Superman II : [Zod] isn’t a villain at all. He’s not a villain anymore than any other general fighting to protect his people. He doesn’t just like to hurt people and steal their diamonds; he’s focused at being successful at his job.”
Also, the actor talked about the CGI armour his character ‘wears’ in the movie, describing it as “more battle-friendly armor – armor so hardy it had to be realized with motion-capture,” with Shannon adding, “because the real thing would probably crush me.”
Man of Steel opens on June 14.
