Nosferatu’s Bill Skarsgård thinks he’d make a “pretty sick” Joker

Has a new actor put his hat in the ring for one of the most coveted villain roles in all of film?

In a new interview, below, for Nosferatu, star Bill Skarsgård discusses other roles he would like to play an Gotham’s Crime Prince of Crime himself, the Joker came up.

Now, for clarity, there’s no reason to suggest that as of right now, there’s a hunt on for a new Joker in James Gunn’s DCU but sooner or later that universe’s Batman will have to meet his greatest enemy and Skarsgård, best known for playing Pennywise, reckons he has what it takes.

“I think there’d be a f*#king cool Joker in me” says Skarsgård, adding: “I think that would be pretty sick.”

Now, Pennywise the Clown in Andy Muschietti’s IT movies was a pretty big moment in modern pop culture, with Skarsgård actually rivalling Tim Curry’s iconic take on the character in the 80s TV series and Joker and Pennywise have the terrifying clown thing in common.

Batman and Gotham City make official DCU debut and we have loads of details and news

Add to this that Muschietti is set to direct the DCU’s Batman: The Brave and the Bold and we know that directors love to use actors they have a connection with, so there’s a chance that this is a conversation between the two that has already been had.

Not only that, but with the DCU, we have a real chance to see a Joker done more like the comic and less like the more realistic incarnations we’ve seen over the years from Romero to Nicholson to Ledger and Leto, meaning that Pennywise’s over-the-top performance could lend itself to Skarsgård’s performance, should such an opportunity present itself.

The Batman II and Batman: The Brave and the Bold movies both pushed back

However, there is one (other) potential hiccup; if Robert Pattinson’s Batman is coming to the DCU as the rumours insist he is, then does that mean that Barry Keoghan, who plays Joker briefly in The Batman, is the DCU’s Batman? Well, that’s something we’ll have to wait and see but as someone who likes Keoghan but hates that Joker’s design, I’m conflicted on that one…

Thoughts? Let me know them…
