Ryan Reynolds hints at Deadpool’s imminent appearance in the MCU?!

Some potentially exciting Deadpool news today folks, as star Ryan Reynolds may have just teased the character’s return to the screen… in some shape or form.

We know that Deadpool will be coming to the MCU soon and we know that it will, despite being part of the family-friendly franchise, be R-rated but we also know that, as confirmed by Marvel boss Kevin Feige, Ryan Reynolds will not be filming Deadpool 3 anytime soon as he’s very busy (here).

However, Reynolds has shared a teasing image on Instagram (below) that seems to show the Deadpool suit and mask being packed up, ready for a trip and on a bag beside it is an envelope that seems to have Reynolds’ name on it; he didn’t add any details or information aside from the image.

However, it has us here at FTN HQ thinking. When Feige discussed the third movie (“[Deadpool 3] will be rated R and we are working on a script right now, and Ryan’s overseeing a script right now… it will not be [filming] this year.” ) he was sure to say it wouldn’t filming this year… however, he didn’t mention the possibility of Deadpool popping up in another MCU entry.

Now, for a while, I have speculated that we may see Deadpool pop up in Spider-man: No Way Home (here) and it has me wondering, with the third Spider-man movie and Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness set to explode the MCU into the realm of infinite possibility, could we see Deadpool pop up in the movie in a cameo? Or perhaps a post-credits scene?

Imagine, normality – as it is in the MCU – has been restored, Spider-man has saved New York and all is well in the world but the camera drifts off [post credits] and we see a wormhole open and out of that hole drops… Deadpool! Cue witty ‘where am I’ quip and fade to black. Remember, at the end of Deadpool 2 the anti-hero had a tinkered-with time-travel device… they even have the way to write him in!

Fans’. Minds. Blown.

Anyway, it’s all speculation, but the star posted that image for a reason and we cannot wait to see what that reason is.

What say you all?

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
