Ryan Reynolds talks Deadpool 3, says filming likely to begin next year at Disney…

While we’ve known for a while that Deadpool was set to make his debut in the MCU soon, we saw the character make his first sort-of-official appearance in the cinematic universe a few weeks ago when he appeared with Taika Waititi’s Korg (here), it seems we may now know when filming is likely to begin.

In an interview about his new movie, Free Guy, star Ryan Reynolds was asked what the chances are of filming beginning soon on Deadpool 3 and the star understandably confused about the date, as we all are right now,  replied: “The percentage chance? I don’t know. I couldn’t assign a percentage to that. I’d say it’s 50/50 maybe? We’re really actively developing it and getting it into pretty good shape.”

He then added: “What the hell month is it? August? Oh next year? Probably pretty damn good. I’d say 70%.”

On the development of the script itself, Reynolds added: “It’s something that is just a daily process. Writing is kind of like that, you’ve gotta a lot of time to do it and walk away, and I’m working with the Molyneuxs [Bob’s Burgers writers Wendy Molyneaux and Lizzie Molyneaux-Loeglin] on it, it’s been great. They’re incredibly talented and so, so smart. They so understand that world and know how to zig when everyone’s expecting a zag, so it’s been a lot of fun.”

Marvel boss Kevin Feige has said previously that the movie is set to be the MCU’s first R-rated movie (here) but I still have my doubts about this… I also have a feeling that we’ll see Reynolds’ Deadpool in Spider-man: No Way Home or Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness well before the third movie gets made as it’s here that the multiverse will be expanded, allowing Deadpool to step into the MCU from his previous home at 20th Century Fox.

I still have an image in my head of a post-credits scene where we’ve established that the multiverse is under pressure and we cut to a shocked looking Deadpool, now standing in the MCU, with a puzzled expression on his face, saying “what the Fu…” and fade to black.

Anyway, Deadpool is likely to start filming next year and I’m pretty excited about that; heck, his meddling in time in Deadpool 2 may even mean he’s a variant being hunted by the TVA… there’s a lot of possibilities and I can’t wait to see how he comes over.

What say you all?
