Great news, everyone! Alan Grant is back in Jurassic Park!

Actor Sam Neill tweeted this morning to reveal that he has started filming on the third Jurassic World (sixth Jurassic Park) movie.

The actor wrote on Twitter (below): Hold onto your hats- gettin’ my old one back on this week , and facing off dinosaurs once again. Best yet .Excited and terrified- these things will kill ya. With @LauraDern @BryceDHoward @prattprattpratt #JeffGoldblum @colintrevorrow I’m obviously a little more …grizzled now.

Neill was one of the original cast, starring in the first and third movies as Paleontologist Alan Grant and now he’s back in Colin Trevorrow’s Jurassic World: Dominion.

But even better, Neill joins also returning Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum as Ellie Sattler and Ian Malcolm. Goldblum appeared in the last movie briefly, but Dern hasn’t been seen since the third movie in 2001. Dominion is filming now at Pinewood Studios.

Neill, Dern, and Goldblum were last together on screen in the first movie in 1993 and will now reunite and appear alongside Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard and Neill said a while back Neill promised that it wasn’t just glorified cameos for the stars: “We’re all the way through the film, Jeff, and me, and Laura.”

Although, despite the fact that the new image has him in the jungle with his old hat on, the 72-year-old star, at the time, remarked that he probably won’t be being chased by dinosaurs this time out as he “probably won’t be running quite as fast as I was 27 years ago!”

The movie is back filming after being halted in March due to that damned virus, but it’s good to see we’re clawing back to normality: “We’re all going to be living in the same joint for three or four months, so that’s going to be fun,” Neill added.

“And everybody loves Chris and Bryce as well, so I think we’ll be a very happy bunch.”

Jurassic World: Dominion is due to arrive on June 11th, 2021.

As an update, Neill has once more taken to Twitter… this time to share an image of said iconic headwear:

And just one final thing… Laura Dern just put out this image of two seats on set; one for Dr Alan Grant and the other for Dr Ellie Sattler. Yes!

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
