Excited for Scream 7? Well, hold on to that excitement because it looks like Scream 8 is officially happening too…
The latest issue of Production Weekly has a long list of movie and TV shows set for production and there’s loads of interesting stuff in there including Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Five Nights at Freddy’s 3 but there’s also, you guessed it… Scream 8!
Now, you might recall back in December last year, I reported that franchise co-creator/writer/director Kevin Williamson was not only directing Scream 7 but was also already planning Scream 8 and it might be a trilogy he’s currently developing, meaning a ninth entry is also coming.
Scream VII films next year but is eighth movie already being developed?
Now, Production Weekly isn’t a news and/or rumour site, so if Scream 8 is on there, it’s coming. Which is very exciting for Scream fans like myself, but it also means that there’s a very good chance that the upcoming Scream 7 will be the first movie in the franchise to not end conclusively but rather is very likely to end on a cliffhanger.
What could that cliffhanger be? Could it be the reveal that Matthew Lillard’s Stu Macher is indeed truly alive? Or perhaps will it end just as star Neve Campbell’s Sidney Prescott is about to die? Who knows? But what we can conclusively deduct is that Kevin Williamson is cooking something big and it also shows that the seventh movie is something the studio is very confident in if they have already started prepping for the eighth movie.
“I’ll be right back!” Matthew Lillard confirmed returning for Scream VII
Still no further word on the Kirby Reed spinoff movie starring Hayden Panettiere but I have a feeling we won’t get anything more concrete on that until the seventh Scream movie hits cinemas early next year.
Are you a Scream/Ghostface fan like me? If so, how are we feeling about at least two more movies in the franchise confirmed? You have your thoughts and I want to hear them all…
