Could Star Wars: Battlefront II have revealed the answer to one of new Star Wars’ greatest mysteries?
Yahoo! Movies have pointed out some interesting details that seem to point to the parentage of Rey, played by Daisy Ridley.
However, for complete clarity, we doubt this will actually be the story but rather we suspect its a deliberate ruse… a red herring if you will.
So, what’s the deal?
Well, in the game the main character, Iden Versio is the leader of the Empire’s Inferno Squad after the events of Return of the Jedi. She and her lover Del Meeko eventually defect to the Rebellion when the learn they are to have a baby.
A baby girl…
Oh, and they fell in love on Jakku, which happens to be the planet Rey was abandoned on in The Force Awakens where she is waiting for her family to return.
Adding to all this, we also learn that Del Meeko was the one who told Kylo Ren where to find Lor San Tekka (Max von Sydow) at the beginning of The Force Awakens… Kylo Ren tells Del Meeko that he shouldn’t attempt to track down his lost family because “she” is dangerous.
Honestly, we’d be very, very surprised if Rey turned out to be a character with this origin, explained in a video game. We honestly think her story is connected to the Skywalker story in a vital way.
That said, we could be wrong… or maybe this other daughter will play a big role in future games, books or comics.
Whatever the truth, we should be closer to knowing the truth this time next month when The Last Jedi opens.
