We’ve been chronicling the development of Fast & Furious 8 for some time now, right down the rumour that Vin Diesel himself might be taking the reigns (here).
But now it seems a serious contender has emerged…
F Gary Gray, director of the very successful Straight Outta Compton, has come to the fore as the man mostly likely to direct the gang for the eighth movie in the franchise.
However, there is still a small stumbling block: “insiders suggest that studio execs are sitting down with producers Vin Diesel and Neal Moritz to decide between Gray and one other director whose identity remains unknown (likely Louis Leterrier – director of the first tow Transporter movies as well as The Incredible Hulk), though Gray looks to have the edge at this point.”
Gray has worked with Diesel before on A Man Apart and directed The Italian Job remake as well as many other movies. It can’t be argued that he seems a shoe-in for this movie. We’d be more confident in him than LeTerrier… or are we wrong?
Whatever happens, we’ll keep you posted and Fast and Furious is set for April 14th, 2017.
