Word on the grapevine is the Stranger Things and Enola Holmes actress Millie Bobby Brown may be set to jump over to the galaxy far, far away.
A new report has it that the young star, 18, could be set to sign a deal with Lucasfilm/Disney that could net her £12m.
While no details on what role the young star might be set to play or if it’s in a movie or TV series, a source claims: “I can reveal the Star Wars fan has held secret talks with Disney executives.”
It’s also well known that Brown and her father/manager are good friends with Lucasfilm boss Kathleen Kennedy.
“She’s had contact with Kathleen,” says the source, “who is aware of her desire to feature in a movie or play a central role in one of the new TV projects for Disney Plus.
“The Disney executives know just how much of an icon she is already for the 10 to 30-year-old audience and what that brings in terms of appeal.”
They added that “she doesn’t need to audition [as] it’s more a case of how the director and her bond. She has the gravitas to hold down the lead for that universe.”
The actress is wrapping up her Stranger Things commitments as the show’s final season is expected next year and she has reportedly finished her Enola Holmes sequel so her schedule may be freeing up soon.
The strange this is that for a few years fans have fancast her as a younger version of Carrie Fisher’s Princess Leia Organa as can be seen in this image – that’s Brown on the right (continues after picture):
There’s no denying she does look a lot like Fisher at that age, however, she’s now only one year younger than Fisher was when she filmed Star Wars in 1977 and with young actress Vivien Lyra Blair having played a young Leia – brilliantly, I might add – in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, it’s not known of there’s more of Leia’s story to tell, certainly for an actress commanding this much money.
On top of this, Kennedy recently said that after Solo: A Star Wars Story, Lucasfilm are not looking are recasting actors in these roles moving forward.
As for when we might see her if this pans out, we have Taika Waititi’s Star Wars movie set for (hopefully) next year (here) and Jude Law’s series Skeleton Crew due to star filming soon (here), there’s certainly plenty of potential for her appearing soon… but in what role? Well, we’ll know soon enough, I guess… if it’s true.
Thoughts? Let’s have them…
